A third difference is the implementation: pendulum  timers for proper operation according to an immobile arrangement and therefore as wall  timer or grandfather  timer run. Other  timers know more versions: as a watch (portable  timer), alarm etc.

On the basis of online stopwatch timer the implementation are mainly antique and art historians again a distinction based on

    the region of origin, for example, a Frisian  timer, a chair Frisian  timer, a  timer Sallander Zaanse  timer or an English lantern  timer;
    the period of manufacture which often coincides with a certain style period, for example, a Louis XVI- timer, or a  timer in Empire style;

    The  timer in the  timer, see Pendulum ( timer)

Some  timers display once per hour, half hour or fifteen minutes a beep.
Energy

A  timer may involve energy from a mechanical or an electrical source. A mechanical source is a weight or spring. A power source batteries, batteries, mains or solar cells. Some watches use arm movements to a spring to wind or a battery to charge.

The stroke movement is a movement that in a mechanical manner by means of a percussion produces sounds that indicate what time it is at that moment. This is done by one or more blows of a hammer on a bell, a tone or tone bar spring.
On TV

 timers are also on television. An important example of such a online timer is a  timer that appears on the screen for about 5 minutes before the daytime programming, otherwise there will now first a program list before the  timer appears on the screen. Of the three Dutch public broadcasters use only Netherlands Netherlands 1 and 2 still such  timers (Netherlands 3 not since 2000).

Throughout the seventies and early eighties were analog  timers used. In the course of 1984, the first digital  timers on the screen that can be simulated with computers, which were used until 15 March 2010. The analog  timer after 1984 was also occasionally used until about 1993. One of these analog  timers can be seen in the picture and sound Experience. The exhibition of this museum is a device that could be switched between  timer and title cards or idents. The institute has also held other  timers, but these are not part of the exhibition.
